| INTRODUCING the RF SHARK:
The RF Shark helps end users deploy RFID
read zones and assists with fault isolation,
troubleshooting, installation and augmentation of the
air interface.

Two Tools In
One!
[1] Portable
Handheld Meter:
This tool uses invisible radio waves to paint a picture of read zone
activity using easy-to-read charts and graphs.
In this mode of operation, the RF Shark
provides the operator with real time read rate
percentages driven from the antenna’s field of view.
This effectively calibrates the “RF sweet spot” aka read zone.
Users benefit by empirically measuring their
read zone’s performance to singulate tags and the
distribution of RF energy as propagated by the
antennas. This
feature is needed to determine if a read zone failure
is due to the RF coverage or tag placement on the SKU.
[2]Multi-tag SKU Analyzer:
In this mode of operation the RF Shark provides a rapid means to simultaneously measure the readability of up to 10 tags in a calibrated “RF sweet spot”
This feature uses the coverage profile
generated from
the Portable Handheld Meter mode to isolate the
differential performance due to tag placement on the
SKU.

SAVE TIME & MONEY
via our rapid data collection process!
It took over 18 hours and 750,000
measurements, an extraordinarily labor intensive
process, to create our first 3D read zone coverage map
.
The new RF Shark can perform the same task in less than 20 minutes!
Let the Shark quickly and accurately
measure the performance of your read zones.
Histogram
This output provides a
statistical breakdown of poor, marginal and acceptable
read rates. Users
may monitor this data over time to baseline the read
zone’s performance and ensure that changes to SKUs,
antennas, tags, readers or firmware do not alter
acceptable performance gradients.

Geodetic Lane
Graph
This
output provides a detailed spatial representation of
the quality of your reads. These are visually
portrayed using the color red for poor reads, yellow
for average, and green for excellent reads.

Shark-O-Meter

This screen is a powerful real time
display of the actual read rate at any sampling point.
Users may apply this capability to:
1. Fault isolate within the field of view
of the antennas.
2. Mechanically beam tilt each antenna to
precisely direct the RF energy to create either
maximum coverage or focused power for x-ray reads.
3. Create an RF space envelope which
effectively controls the dwell time within the read
zone to Singulate tags.
Examination of the RF data using the histogram and
geodetic plots of the measurement planes will give the
RF Shark operator an idea of how the read zone will
perform based on the tagged asset’s dwell time,
spatial requirements, and tag placement for any given
use case. Perform
fine tuning of the hardware to match End User RFID
infrastructure requirements.
